Korea Forest Service Raises Landslide Risk Alert to 'Caution'

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The landslide warning level has been raised to ‘Caution’.

The Korea Forest Service announced on the 29th at 7 a.m. that the nationwide landslide warning has been upgraded from ‘Interest’ to ‘Caution’.

Earlier, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted heavy rain starting from the southern coast on the afternoon of the same day, continuing until the day after tomorrow.

Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service plans to maintain a 24-hour emergency duty system to immediately respond to landslides caused by heavy rain, while continuing cooperation with local governments, regional offices, and related organizations.

Lee Kwang-ho, Head of the Landslide Prevention Division at the Korea Forest Service, said, “We urge the public to pay close attention to landslide advisories and heavy rain warnings from the Korea Meteorological Administration, and to evacuate promptly according to emergency disaster messages and announcements in case of emergencies.”
