[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Actress Choi Soo-rin revealed that she is often misunderstood as being much older while playing roles of a mistress and a mother-in-law.

On the 28th, the MBC Every1 variety show 'Video Star' featured actresses Kim Chung, Yoo Hye-ri, Kwak Jung-hee, and Choi Soo-rin, who specialize in mother-in-law roles.

During the broadcast, Choi Soo-rin spoke about her past roles as a mistress and mother-in-law, saying, "When a mistress becomes a mother-in-law, I think all the hardships she endured are expressed."

Host Kim Sook humorously responded, "So you started as a mistress and steadily climbed the elite course?"

Choi Soo-rin's older sister Yoo Hye-ri added, "Actresses have gaps in their careers. There is an ambiguous age to take on roles, and I told my sister that when going to the broadcasting station, instead of looking younger, she should appear older."

Choi Soo-rin said, "Compared to my age, I played mother roles quite early. In my 30s, I played 40s roles, and in my 40s, I played 50s roles. Many viewers think I am older than I actually am."

The hosts then asked Choi Soo-rin, "Isn't the slapping scene inseparable from the mistress role? Do you have a secret to slapping well?"

Choi Soo-rin replied, "The bigger the angle of the slap, the better."

Yoo Hye-ri added, "You have to relax your strength to make it look strong. Like a golf swing, you deliver the impact in one go to avoid retakes. If there are retakes, you might have to do it 10 times. Since it’s unpleasant, doing it properly ends it quickly."

Choi Soo-rin then spoke about her son, saying, "My son dreams of becoming an actor. He used to always help me practice my lines, but these days he practices on his own. He works hard alone, but I’m not sure yet. However, whatever he wants to do, I’m okay with it."
