[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 28th that it will completely cancel the ‘2020 Jeongeup Korea VR·AR Experience Expo’ scheduled for October.

As regional festivals and cultural and artistic events nationwide are being significantly reduced or canceled to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the city judged that citizen safety is the top priority, deciding to fully cancel the expo and look forward to next year.

In particular, the city determined that since the expo’s experience venues are indoors, where a large number of unspecified people are expected to gather in confined indoor spaces, canceling the festival is inevitable.

A city official said, “As the COVID-19 outbreak is impacting the entire world, this was the best decision for the safety of our citizens,” adding, “We will prepare for the post-COVID era and return next year as a more substantial festival.”

Meanwhile, the Jeongeup Korea VR·AR Experience Expo is a venue to experience advanced content such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and MR (Mixed Reality), which are emerging as core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Last year’s Jeongeup Korea VR·AR Experience Expo was praised as a rich festival that satisfied all five senses from kindergarteners to adults, offering abundant attractions and various experiences with educational effects in mind.
