Jo Young-hoon, Chairman of Jung-gu Council, Elected as President of Seoul District Council Chairpersons Association


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jo Young-hoon, chairman of the Seoul Jung-gu Council, was elected as the chairman of the Seoul Metropolitan District Council Chairmen's Association for the second half of the term at a meeting held in Gangseo-gu on the 28th.


Jo Young-hoon, the newly appointed chairman of the association, has been honored with the position of chairman for the second half of the 8th term, thanks to his long legislative experience spanning four terms?3rd, 4th, 6th, and currently the 8th?and his relentless efforts toward the development of local councils.


In particular, Chairman Jo Young-hoon was re-elected as chairman of the Jung-gu Council in the second half term election on July 8th with broad support from Jung-gu Council members, following his first half term, becoming the first chairman of the Jung-gu Council to be elected as chairman of the Chairmen's Association.


Chairman Jo Young-hoon expressed his gratitude, saying, “I sincerely thank my esteemed and outstanding senior and junior colleagues for supporting me as chairman of the association. Over the next two years, I will closely communicate and cooperate with the chairmen of the 24 autonomous districts to successfully develop the Seoul Metropolitan District Councils and manage the association.”


The Seoul Metropolitan District Council Chairmen's Association is composed of chairmen from the 25 autonomous district councils of Seoul. It discusses and negotiates common issues and current affairs of each region, presents opinions to the central government and Seoul city, and contributes to the development of local autonomy and local councils.
