[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] The celebrity baseball tournament '2020 Goyang-Hanstar SBO League' will be held on the 3rd of next month at Janghang Baseball Stadium in Goyang City.
The SBO League was originally scheduled to open in March but was postponed due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and will resume after five months.
12 celebrity baseball teams will compete in two groups of six teams each in the preliminary league. The top two teams from each group in the preliminaries will advance to the cross tournament, proceeding through the semifinals and the final (November 30) to determine the ultimate champion.
The first opening match will feature an intermission by actor Oh Man-seok, who is the captain of the celebrity representative team, and Gag Concert, which includes newlywed Park Sung-kwang, who is about to get married on the 15th.
The second match will be a showdown between Old Bros, led by Cultwo's Kim Tae-gyun, and Lava, led by comedian Byun Ki-soo.
The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Insooni, a representative singer of South Korea, who also serves as the chairman of Haemil School, a multicultural alternative school.
This season's SBO League will be held without spectators for the time being, reflecting social distancing measures due to COVID-19.
Although direct attendance is not possible, all SBO League games can be enjoyed live at home through live broadcasts on the main broadcaster STN.
They can also be watched every Monday at 7 PM and 9:30 PM on major IPTV platforms, Hanstar TV (YouTube), Naver Sports, KakaoTV, and AfreecaTV. Additionally, highlights of all games will be broadcast for about three minutes on KTX trains.
