Shinhan Card "Get Postpaid Transportation Youth Fare Discount with Family Check Card"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card announced on the 27th that it will expand the automatic application of the postpaid transportation youth fare plan to family check cards.

The postpaid transportation check card for youth under the cardholder's name has been in effect since April 27, allowing youths aged 12 to 18 and middle and high school students to use buses and subways nationwide without needing to recharge, using the postpaid transportation card.

However, there were inconveniences such as the requirement for a legal guardian to prepare necessary documents and visit a bank branch in person to apply, a monthly postpaid transportation usage limit of 50,000 KRW, and issuance limited to only one card company.

To address these inconveniences, Shinhan Card is the first in the industry to utilize the family card system to provide an automatic application service for the postpaid transportation youth discount fare plan. This method automatically applies the public transportation youth discount fare plan to the postpaid transportation family check card under the child's name linked to the parent's check card. This eliminates the hassle of requiring the legal guardian to visit and apply in person to receive the youth fare plan. Additionally, there is no monthly usage limit of 50,000 KRW for postpaid transportation, and the amount used on the family check card is withdrawn from the parent's account, allowing management of the child's payment amount.

The family check card can be issued with a different design from the parent's check card, including character-type cards such as Minions, which are preferred by youths.

Parents who hold a Shinhan check card can apply for the family check card through the Shinhan Card website, customer center, or Shinhan Bank branches. If the parent does not have a Shinhan card, they can apply for a family check card after issuing a check card under their name.

Shinhan Card has also prepared an event to celebrate the launch of the family check card youth fare plan application. Until August 21, customers who apply for the youth family check card through the event and use postpaid transportation at least once will receive a 3,000 KRW cashback.
