[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] MyRealTrip, a travel tech company operating a travel platform, announced on the 27th that it has secured a total investment of 43.2 billion KRW from leading domestic venture capitals as well as prominent investors from the United States, Singapore, and France.
This investment was led by Altos Ventures, with participation from existing investors IMM Investment and Smilegate Investment, as well as new investors including the Korea Development Bank, Axiom Capital (Singapore), Partech Partners (France), and Techton Ventures (USA). Notably, existing shareholder Smilegate Investment participated for the fifth time, while Altos Ventures and IMM Investment joined for the fourth consecutive round, attracting global investors.
With this, MyRealTrip has set a record for the largest single and cumulative investment amounts among domestic travel platforms. To date, MyRealTrip has raised a total of 82.4 billion KRW, of which 10 billion KRW was supported by the Korea Technology Finance Corporation after being selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ preliminary unicorn program earlier this year.
Based on this investment, MyRealTrip plans to further strengthen its technology sector and accelerate talent recruitment. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, MyRealTrip has focused its services on the domestic market, rapidly securing product categories such as flights, accommodations, tours, and activities. It currently sells over 2,000 diverse domestic tour products and recently introduced non-face-to-face travel products such as virtual tours. CEO Lee Dong-geon stated, "Domestic travel sales have grown more than fourfold compared to before the COVID-19 outbreak," adding, "We are actively planning to recruit talent who will help shape the future of travel based on the newly secured investment."
