[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Samsung Electronics will equip its new wireless earphone product, 'Galaxy Buds Live,' unveiled at the upcoming August Unpacked event, with active noise canceling functionality. The price is expected to be in the low 200,000 KRW range.

On the 24th (local time), Roland Quandt, operator of the IT specialized media WinFuture, explained on Twitter, "Galaxy Buds Live will be released in the U.S. at $169 (approximately 200,000 KRW)" and added, "It supports active noise canceling and is equipped with three microphones."

This is the first time the Galaxy Buds series will feature active noise canceling. The earbuds of Galaxy Buds Live have a bean shape, significantly improving both comfort and design compared to previous models. While the Galaxy Buds series has been released in an in-ear style so far, there is speculation that the Live model will be released as an open type. Even if the wearing comfort improves, attention is focused on how the noise cancellation function will be implemented.

If Galaxy Buds Live is released at $169, it will be a $20 increase compared to the previous Galaxy Buds+ (priced around 170,000 KRW domestically). The domestic release price is also expected to be similarly in the low 200,000 KRW range. Earlier foreign media predicted a release price of 190 euros (approximately 260,000 KRW) in Europe, but prices may vary by country.

Considering that Apple's AirPods Pro was released domestically at 329,000 KRW and is being sold online in the 250,000 KRW range, this is a much more affordable price. Samsung Electronics has provided discount benefits to buyers when launching new smartphones such as the Galaxy Note20, and if the same promotion applies, it is expected that the earbuds can be purchased at a much lower price.

The maximum playback time of the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds is about 7.5 hours, and when the active noise canceling function is activated, playback time decreases to 4.5 hours. It supports fast charging, allowing 35 minutes of use after placing the earbuds in the case for 3 minutes. It includes two internal microphones and one external microphone, and is equipped with a 12mm driver. The earbuds weigh 5.6g. Sensors are also included to control playback, pause, or skip tracks by touch. The colors will be released in four options?Mystic Bronze, Black, Gray, and White?the same as the Galaxy Note20.
