Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, Mentoring Mentor Appointment Ceremony
Full-scale Activities Begin During Launch Week
Minister Lee Jung-ok of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (center) appointed 11 female leaders from various fields as youth women mentors on the morning of the 23rd at the LW Convention. The mentors support young women’s entry into and adaptation to society as role models.
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 25th that it will hold the 'Young Women Mentoring' launch week, where young women and female leaders explore career paths together and support social advancement, officially starting its activities.
On the first day of the launch week, the 23rd, a 'Mentor Appointment Ceremony' was held at the LW Convention Center. During the ceremony, the 'Mentor Activity Declaration' was announced, appointment plaques were awarded, and guidance-related training was conducted.
Until the 31st, launch ceremonies will be held by groups consisting of mentors and mentees, and activity goals and plans will be established for five months until November.
The mentors consist of 11 female leaders from various fields such as management, new industries, public enterprises and social economy, culture, and arts. Professor Jeon Mi-ok of Joongbu University, who has been active for five consecutive years, and Kim Hee, Executive Director at POSCO and the first female factory manager in the steel industry, have been reappointed to continue their activities. In the new industries sector, Oh Soon-young, Executive Director at Hangul and Computer, Tak Jeong-mi, Head of R&D Center at Hyosung ITX, Lee Byeol-im, Android Development Team Leader at KakaoTalk, Kwon Seon-ju, CEO of Blue Cloud, a developer of functional games and apps, and Lee Seong-ok, CEO of Namuwa Sup, which provides services such as child emotional and behavioral observation systems, have newly joined to start their mentoring activities.
The mentees are 62 young women ranging from university students to job seekers and early career workers who are preparing for employment and need career development. To improve accessibility for young women outside the metropolitan area, regional mentoring, which matches regional mentors, and project mentoring, where mentors and mentees carry out projects together, will also be newly implemented.
