Ok Joo-hyun Sings 'Nella Fantasia'... Ennio Morricone Memorial Concert

[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] The Seoul Arts Center will hold a memorial concert for Ennio Morricone, who passed away on the 6th (local time), titled "Ennio Morricone Cine Concert: Remembering the Master of Film Music" on the 1st. The concert will be held twice, at 2 PM and 7 PM.

Musical actress Ok Joo-hyun, violinist Shin Ji-ah, and conductor Park Sang-hyun will lead the Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra in the performance. The Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra has a special connection with Morricone, having performed under his baton during his 50th anniversary Korea tour in 2011. Ok Joo-hyun also appeared as a special guest during that tour, opening the second act.

Ennio Morricone, born in Italy, was a film music director who composed music for over 500 films throughout his lifetime.

In the first part of the concert, the Mostly Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Park Sang-hyun, will perform beautiful melodies from Morricone’s masterpieces such as "Return to the Sunset," "Once Upon a Time in America," "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," and "Kill Bill." In the second part, Ok Joo-hyun and violinist Shin Ji-ah will perform. Ok Joo-hyun will sing "Nella Fantasia" from "The Mission" and "Your Love" from "Once Upon a Time in the West." Violinist Shin Ji-ah will close the concert with the beloved love theme from "Cinema Paradiso," played with lyrical melodies.

Film critic Oh Dong-jin will participate as the host, sharing stories about Morricone’s musical world and the creation of his famous works. Throughout the concert, high-definition footage commemorating Ennio Morricone will be screened on a large screen installed in the opera theater.
