Samsung Directly Releases 'Galaxy Fold2' Unpack Teaser... "August 5 Reveal"

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] A teaser video hinting at the appearance of the Galaxy Fold2 at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5 has emerged. There had been various speculations about the unveiling of the Galaxy Fold2, but Samsung Electronics directly stepped in to put an end to the controversy.

On the 19th (local time), Samsung Mobile's Twitter account released a teaser video previewing the arrival of the Galaxy Fold2. In the video, a droplet in the Mystic Bronze color, which appeared on the Unpacked invitation, falls and transforms into a round sphere before unfolding like a butterfly on both sides, concluding with the 'Galaxy Unpacked' logo.

The butterfly-shaped figure, with the center connected, is interpreted to mean the foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold2, which folds in an inward folding (in-folding) form, will appear at the Unpacked event. Samsung Electronics has released a total of four teaser videos so far, including invitations hinting at the Galaxy Note20, wireless earbuds Galaxy Buds Live (tentative name), a new gaming device, and the Fold2. The videos share the same format where a bronze-colored droplet falls and transforms into different products.

Unlike the other products, the 'Galaxy Fold2' remains shrouded in mystery as even official rendering images presumed to be of the product have not been released. The release schedule is widely expected to be late September or October. The main display size when unfolded is anticipated to be 7.6 to 7.7 inches, and the cover display visible when folded is expected to be 6.23 inches.

According to IT specialized media SamMobile, the Galaxy Fold2's cover display is expected to include a viewfinder function. When unfolded, the cover display will serve as a rear camera viewfinder, allowing users to see in real-time what the camera is capturing while taking photos. It will also enable wide-angle selfie shooting by viewing the rear camera's screen on the cover display.

The Galaxy Fold2 is expected to be equipped with the Snapdragon 865+ chipset and will be released in 256GB and 512GB memory models. The rear camera setup will include a triple camera system with a 64-megapixel main camera and two 12-megapixel cameras. Ross Young, CEO of market research firm Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), explained, "The Galaxy Fold2's display size is 7.59 inches with a resolution of 2213x1689, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) technology."
