[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 17th, Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it held a direct-from-farm sales event for Gokseong melons, a representative high-income crop, at three AK Plaza locations in the metropolitan area (Bundang, Suwon, Pyeongtaek).
The direct-from-farm sales event was held from the 10th to the 16th, showcasing the highest quality Gokseong melons produced through contract farming by Agricultural Corporation Gokseong Melon Co., Ltd., and jointly selected using a non-destructive sweetness meter.
AK Plaza has the largest infrastructure for selling agricultural products and processed foods in Korea. The Gokseong Melon Rural Convergence Industry Project Group (Director Kim Jaeman), which organized the direct-from-farm sales event, judged that it provides the optimal conditions to promote the excellence of Gokseong melons and to attract consumer interest in the Gokseong Melon Complex Experience Center and Melon Village.
On the first day of the event, the 10th, from the morning, Gokseong-gun Governor Yoo Geun-gi visited the AK Plaza Bundang branch to meet customers and carry out promotional activities.
Following this, through a meeting with Jeong Jong-hyeok, the manager of AK Plaza Bundang, they agreed to continue promoting direct-from-farm sales of Gokseong agricultural products.
A representative of the Gokseong Melon Rural Convergence Industry Project Group stated, “We believe that many people have come to know about Gokseong melons through AK Plaza in Bundang, Suwon, and Pyeongtaek, the largest consumer markets in the metropolitan area. We will continue to do our best to promote the consumption of various agricultural specialties centered on Gokseong melons.”
