Move-in of 2024 KDI Graduate School of International Policy in Sejong

[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korea Development Institute Graduate School of International Policy (hereinafter KDI Graduate School) is expected to establish its base in Sejong in 2024.

On the 17th, Sejong City announced that it signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Administrative City Construction Agency and KDI Graduate School for the 'Sejong Joint Campus (rental type) occupancy' of KDI Graduate School.

The MOA mainly outlines that by March 2024, KDI Graduate School will relocate its master's and doctoral degree programs such as Development Policy to the joint campus located in Sejong 4-2 Living Zone (under development), and establish a new Sejong National Management Program, thereby promoting the establishment of the 'KDI Graduate School Second Campus.'

According to the MOA, the city, together with the Administrative City Construction Agency, will actively support the smooth occupancy of the KDI Graduate School Second Campus in the joint campus.

The joint campus is the first domestic 'new concept university innovation model' introduced to promote university attraction amid university restructuring and financial constraints due to the decline in school-age population, and is being developed as part of government innovation projects.

The city expects that many universities will move into this area in the future, sharing classrooms and support facilities, and that the institutions such as universities and research institutes will serve as a hub for industry-academia-research cooperation through convergence education and research.

Lee Chun-hee, Mayor of Sejong City, said, “We welcome the occupancy of KDI Graduate School in the joint campus,” and added, “We hope that the newly established KDI Graduate School Second Campus in the region will become a base that consolidates and strengthens the nation's knowledge capabilities.”

Lee Moon-gi, Administrator of the Administrative City Construction Agency, said, “We will continue to attract excellent universities and research institutions so that the joint campus can become a hub for nurturing convergence talents leading national policies and for industry-academia-research cooperation.”
