[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Mayor Baek Gun-gi of Yongin visited outstanding employment companies in the area to encourage them and promised active support.
Yongin City announced on the 17th that Mayor Baek visited Daewoo Lucoms in Pogok-eup, Cheoin-gu, and Willings in Mohyeon-eup, both excellent job-creating companies, on the 16th, holding meetings with company officials to discuss job creation and support measures.
This event was organized to encourage companies that have maintained employment for all employees without unpaid leave or layoffs despite the COVID-19 crisis.
At the event, Mayor Baek emphasized, "Due to the impact of COVID-19, citizens are losing jobs or facing difficulties in their livelihoods, so reviving the local economy is the top priority."
Yoon Chun-gi, CEO of Daewoo Lucoms, responded, "Based on the Yongin factory where most local residents work, the company has grown significantly, achieving 80% higher performance compared to last year. We will continue to cooperate with the local community to overcome the crisis together."
Ahn Gang-soon, CEO of Willings, stated, "Not only maintaining employment of existing employees but also recently increasing the employment rate shows the enthusiasm of our staff. We are making efforts to improve welfare, such as operating dormitories for employees with long commutes."
Mayor Baek urged, "As new industries are gaining attention based on online and digital culture, please use this opportunity to strengthen your company's capabilities and contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
Yongin City certifies small and medium-sized enterprises in the area as excellent job-creating companies if their employment growth rate has increased by more than 10% in the past 12 months or if they have newly hired more than five employees.
Daewoo Lucoms was designated as an excellent company in 2019, and Willings in 2018, respectively.
