Administrative Measures Also Enforced to Prohibit Providing Meeting Places for Bangpan Staff Sales Gatherings
On July 16, guests attending the opening ceremony of the Clean Bus Stop (Disinfection Bus Stop) held at the Gangneung Sports Complex in Gangwon are disinfecting taxis frequently used by tourists.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu City has issued a gathering ban order on unregistered and unreported special sales sectors for one month starting from the 16th to enforce COVID-19 life quarantine measures.
Along with this, administrative measures prohibiting the provision of business activity locations to door-to-door sales employees have been implemented to prevent them from providing meeting places.
This measure was taken in consideration of the situation in early June when 194 confirmed cases occurred due to covert business activities by the illegal door-to-door sales company Richway in the Seoul area.
In Daejeon and Gwangju as well, confirmed COVID-19 cases occurred consecutively due to illegal door-to-door sales activities, spreading to churches, workplaces, and academies. Because of this, social distancing in the Gwangju area was raised to level 2. This proved that the business activity method of door-to-door sales is a significant source of COVID-19 transmission.
Illegal door-to-door sales companies conduct covert business activities in public sauna facilities, jjimjilbangs, officetels, and private homes. Accordingly, Daegu City has issued administrative measures to prohibit the provision of locations to these establishments and plans to closely monitor their business activities. If ordinary citizens detect such activities, they can report them through the 'Safe Report' app. They can download Safe Report from the app store, install it on their smartphones, and report.
Kim Young-ae, Director of the Daegu City Citizen Safety Office, emphasized, "Through this administrative measure, we will fundamentally block the provision of locations for illegal door-to-door sales activities conducted secretly to prevent them from becoming a source of COVID-19 spread within the region."
