Conducted Awareness Improvement Training on Developmental Disabilities for On-Site Police Officers in Jeonnam

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency announced on the 16th that it conducted awareness improvement training for about 400 field police officers from 21 police stations to enhance understanding and protect the rights of people with developmental disabilities.

This training, held in collaboration with the Jeonnam Developmental Disability Support Center (Director Kang Seungwon) from the 2nd of last month for about 40 days, focused on understanding laws related to developmental disabilities, methods for supporting rights, specialized knowledge about the characteristics of people with developmental disabilities, and communication methods, thereby increasing awareness of developmental disabilities.

The participating police officers said, "The training was beneficial as it helped us understand the characteristics of different types of disabilities," and "It was a good opportunity to reconsider communication methods when investigating people with developmental disabilities."

Kang Seungwon, Director of the Jeonnam Developmental Disability Support Center, stated, "Through this field training, police officers are expected to effectively perform their roles in protecting the rights and human rights of people with developmental disabilities. We will continue to provide on-site rights protection education targeting police stations and police boxes."

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency and the Jeonnam Developmental Disability Support Center plan to further strengthen their mutual support system.
