Incheon City announced on the 16th that since the first report of 'gnat larvae' was received on the 9th, a total of 194 related complaints have been filed by the 15th. On-site investigations revealed actual larvae in 90 locations. Larvae were not found in 30 locations, and on-site inspections are ongoing in 74 locations.
Additionally, on the same day, complaints about tap water larvae were received from Dong-gu, Michuhol-gu, Yeonsu-gu, and Namdong-gu, areas where no previous complaints about tap water larvae had been reported.
Accordingly, among the 10 districts and counties of Incheon City, Ongjin-gun is the only area where no reports of tap water larvae damage have been received. As of 1 PM the previous day, complaints about tap water larvae were reported in Seo-gu, Gyeyang, Bupyeong, and Ganghwa areas of Incheon, with additional reports from Jung-gu.
Incheon City plans to continue 24-hour monitoring and filtering of tap water and disclose the results to citizens. As of 12 PM the previous day, filtering was conducted on 12 direct water pipes of water meters in areas with larvae complaints, and no larvae were found.
The city has completed cleaning of four water purification plants and ten water distribution reservoirs in the Incheon area. Fire hydrant flushing was also carried out, discharging 133,000 tons and 2,000 tons in Seo-gu and Ganghwa areas, respectively.
