[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Professor Kim Geun-sik of Gyeongnam National University, chairman of the Songpa-byeong party committee of the United Future Party, raised his voice saying, "The investigation into the truth of the late Mayor Park Won-soon's case must begin with the honest testimony of the gender special advisor."
On the 16th, Professor Kim said on Facebook, "To properly reveal the substantial truth of the late Mayor Park's case, rather than covering it up with 'no prosecution,' a prompt and strict investigation into the cases of confidential information leaks and dereliction of duty should be conducted to indirectly uncover the truth."
He pointed out, "The first step in uncovering the truth of the late Mayor Park's case is the honest testimony of the gender special advisor. There is no public official on earth who suddenly requests a private meeting with the mayor they serve to ask, 'What is the disgraceful matter?' Especially just before a complaint presumed to be directly related to the death."
He continued, "Having long been involved in the women's movement and dedicated to improving women's rights, the gender special advisor should reveal the truth now so as not to be ashamed of that process. The more lies are told, the more the situation becomes tangled," urging her to come forward.
Professor Kim also pointed out, "It is not the police, who are suspected as the party responsible for the information leak and have been delaying the investigation until now, but the prosecution, which holds the authority to indict, that should directly take charge of the investigation," adding, "The more corruption suspicions and allegations are buried after the suicide of a political leader, the more it results in the neglect of a culture of high-ranking officials' suicides in our society, leading to second and third cases."
