[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A university student group guarding the Statue of Peace in Jongno-gu, Seoul, has filed a complaint with the police, claiming they were sexually harassed and threatened with a vehicle by conservative YouTubers.
On the morning of the 16th, the Anti-Japan Anti-Abe Youth Student Joint Action held a press conference in front of the civil service office at Jongno Police Station in Seoul, announcing that they had filed complaints against the operator of the YouTube channel 'Upa Samchon TV,' Kim Sang-jin, Secretary General of the Liberty Solidarity, and the operator of the YouTube channel 'Sangsang-eun Jayu' for attempted murder and sexual harassment, respectively.
The Joint Action stated, "We held this press conference to condemn the absurd behavior of far-right forces, which is full of intent and malice," adding, "They drove a van toward the Statue of Peace and the sit-in protesters guarding it, while also engaging in insulting remarks and sexual harassment."
They continued, "We can no longer overlook such acts, so we have attached the evidence we have collected and have filed strict complaints."
The Joint Action claimed that Mr. A, the operator of the YouTube channel 'Upa Samchon TV,' threatened university students conducting a sit-in near the Statue of Peace with a vehicle on the 14th. They also alleged that Kim Sang-jin, Secretary General of Liberty Solidarity, and Mr. B, the operator of 'Sangsang-eun Jayu,' sexually harassed members of the Joint Action.
They stated that Secretary General Kim made sexually harassing remarks toward members such as "Do you have a bed?" and "Don't masturbate," and that the operator of 'Sangsang-eun Jayu' repeatedly sexually harassed members by filming their body parts.
The Anti-Japan Anti-Abe Youth Student Joint Action has been guarding the Statue of Peace and conducting a sit-in protest since the 23rd of last month, when the conservative group Liberty Solidarity occupied the venue for the Wednesday Demonstration.
