[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 16th that it will unveil four new models of its premium high-performance brand Mercedes-AMG for the first time on the 17th at the AMG Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. These new vehicles are scheduled to be officially launched in Korea next month.
The vehicles being revealed for the first time in Korea include the The New Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Sedan, The New Mercedes-AMG A 45 4MATIC+ Hatchback, The New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupe Sedan, and a new model of The New Mercedes-AMG GT, totaling four models.
Mark Rein, Vice President of Product & Marketing at Mercedes-Benz Korea, stated, “There has been an increasing demand for high-performance vehicles, especially among younger customers, so we are introducing various performance vehicles including the 35 model, which is the first engine family launched by the AMG brand, as well as the new 45 and 45 S models. Additionally, the AMG GT model, which embodies the brand’s core ‘driving performance,’ has long captured the attention of customers and sports car enthusiasts.”
The New AMG A 35 4MATIC Sedan is a high-performance model based on the ‘The New A-Class Sedan’ released domestically in February. As AMG’s first 35 model, it also signifies an expansion of the AMG lineup. Sharing the design, the latest infotainment system MBUX, and a front-wheel-drive-based platform with The New A-Class Sedan, which sold 2,500 units from early this year until last month, it is equipped with a 2.0ℓ 4-cylinder engine that offers driving pleasure. The 2.0ℓ 4-cylinder twin-scroll turbocharged engine combined with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed transmission delivers a maximum output of 306 horsepower and a peak torque of 40.6 kg·m. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.
The AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system automatically adjusts torque distribution from full front-wheel drive to a 50:50 split by considering driving speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, rotation speed of each wheel, selected gear, and accelerator pedal position.
The New AMG A 45 4MATIC+ Hatchback is a high-performance model of the 4th generation The New A-Class Hatchback, which was launched domestically in September last year. It is equipped with AMG’s new M139 engine, which delivers the highest output ever, with a maximum output of 387 horsepower and a peak torque of 48.9 kg·m, improved compared to the previous model. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8-speed transmission provides immediate acceleration response and high output, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4 seconds.
Additionally, the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, which incorporates Mercedes-AMG’s technology, and AMG Dynamics, which adjusts handling characteristics in a more differentiated way according to the driver’s various requirements and driving conditions, are provided as standard features.
The New Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupe Sedan, introduced as a high-performance model of the 2nd generation The New CLA Coupe Sedan, is a design icon emphasizing a coupe-style design. It boasts top-level performance among mass-produced cars.
The New AMG CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Coupe Sedan, released as the S model, is equipped with the same M139 engine and AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8-speed transmission as The New AMG A 45 4MATIC+ Hatchback, but delivers a maximum output of 421 horsepower and a peak torque of 51.0 kg·m, which is 40 horsepower higher than the previous engine. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 seconds. Another notable feature is the AMG Track Pace, which intuitively informs the driver of over 80 detailed vehicle data points through the latest infotainment system MBUX.
The AMG GT 2-door coupe is the second sports car independently developed by AMG, and the AMG GT S Edition 1 was first launched in Korea in 2015. The newly revealed The New AMG GT is a facelifted model released five years after the initial launch, featuring new design elements inside and out.
The New AMG GT, equipped with a 4.0ℓ V8 biturbo engine, offers powerful power and quick responsiveness comparable to a racing car. The facelift includes newly designed headlamps, rear lamps, rear apron diffuser, and wheel designs, completing a more dynamic image compared to before.
The New GT delivers a maximum output of 476 horsepower and a peak torque of 64.2 kg·m, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. In addition, various features that enhance driving enjoyment, such as the AMG Performance Exhaust System and AMG Track Pace, are applied.
