Chosun University LINC+ Project Group Rolls Up Sleeves for ‘Chungjang-ro Revitalization’

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University has rolled up its sleeves for ‘urban revitalization.’

The Chosun University LINC+ (Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation) Project Group announced on the 15th that it signed a business agreement with the Chungjang Merchants Association and Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City to revitalize the local economy of Chungjang-ro and open a new era of the Chungjang-ro Renaissance.

Chosun University and the Chungjang Merchants Association have conducted detailed demand surveys for urban regeneration and Chungjang-ro revitalization through several joint meetings.

Through this business agreement, next month, the Chungjang-ro Industry-Academia Cooperation Hub Center will be established in the Chosun University Alumni Association building located at Chungjang-ro 100-1, Chungjang-ro 1-ga, and a ‘Social Creation, Creativity, and Imagination Playground to Open the Era of Chungjang-ro Renaissance’ will be opened.

The Industry-Academia Cooperation Hub Center will focus on nurturing creative professionals for Chungjang-ro merchants and students through YouTube education, smartphone-based film production, and more.

Additionally, to highlight Gwangju’s Chungjang-ro as the center of a cultural and tourism city, various programs are being prepared to open the Chungjang-ro Renaissance era, including new-concept foreign language education, operation of a translation office for trade consultations, an interpretation office for trail tourism, and the ‘Chungjang-ro Project,’ the face of K-Culture.

Plans are also underway for fashion shows utilizing Chosun University’s creative assets, moonlight and flower light Chungjang music concerts, and more, mobilizing all capabilities to restore Chungjang-ro’s former glory.

Furthermore, Chosun University and the Chungjang Merchants Association are preparing a ‘partnership discount store agreement’ to revive the Chungjang-ro commercial district, raising expectations even higher.

Kim Chunseong, head of the Chosun University LINC+ Project Group, said, “As a public-type private university, Chosun University’s role in the local community is very important. We will make Chungjang-ro, the heart of Gwangju, a new icon of regional innovation.”

Yeo Geunsu, president of the Chungjang Merchants Association, stated, “Through active collaboration with Chosun University and the merchants’ association, we will create the second heyday of Chungjang-ro.”
