[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 15th that it will conduct an official discipline inspection targeting all public officials until the 31st.
The city aims to raise awareness of compliance with public service duties and correct misconduct and irregularities to create a trustworthy and transparent Jeongeup City for its citizens.
The city plans to organize an inspection team to check compliance with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines at the city hall, affiliated institutions, business offices, and townships, as well as to review emergency work during the COVID-19 crisis, work gaps due to regular personnel changes, and the maintenance of emergency contact networks for various disaster accidents.
In addition, inspections will be conducted on violations of COVID-19 related guidelines, acts damaging the dignity of public officials such as drunk driving, gambling, and assault, neglect of various illegal acts taking advantage of disorderly situations, improper delays in handling civil complaints, unfriendliness in civil service, and overall work discipline and duty status.
In particular, since a golf gathering of public officials in Jeonnam Province who recently tested positive for COVID-19 caused social controversy, the city will instruct public officials to actively participate in social distancing, including refraining from golf gatherings, and to comply with the public officials' code of conduct until the COVID-19 situation improves.
Kang Chae-won, head of the Audit Department, said, “If serious misconduct is detected through this inspection, we will apply a zero-tolerance policy and take action according to relevant regulations, and minor issues will be corrected on-site.”
