[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Former lawmaker Kim Bu-gyeom, who is running for the Democratic Party leadership election, has recruited former Seoul City Senior Secretary for Political Affairs Park Yang-sook as the spokesperson for his party convention campaign.
Kim’s camp announced on the afternoon of the 15th through a press release that they had brought Park on as spokesperson. Kim said, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the August 29 party convention will be held in a non-face-to-face format, making media more important than ever," and added, "To strengthen the campaign’s communication channel with the media, we have appointed Park as co-spokesperson."
Spokesperson Park previously served as a senior expert at the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs of Seoul Metropolitan Government, member of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Policy Advisory Committee, two-term member of the Seoul Metropolitan Council, level-2 equivalent National Assembly Policy Research Officer, and Director of the Democratic Party’s Floor Affairs Bureau.
Kim appointed former National Assembly aide Park Hae-won, senior researcher Shin Kwang-jae of the Local Development Institute, and former Jeonbuk Ilbo reporter Lee Se-myeong as deputy spokespersons, and former Vice Chairperson of the National University Student Committee Lee Yoon-jae as youth deputy spokesperson.
Kim emphasized, "As a responsible party leader, I will do my best to faithfully convey to party members, comrades, and the public my thoughts and determination to be at the forefront of the Moon Jae-in administration’s success and the Democratic Party’s return to power."
