Approximately 180 Legally Low-Income Children Targeted... Purchased and Delivered Nutritional Supplements and Probiotics with Support Funds from the Municipal Daycare Center Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (District Mayor Kim Young-jong) is promoting the 'Dream Start Nutritional Supplement Support Project' to boost the immunity of low-income children and support their healthy growth.
This project is part of support measures for vulnerable children amid the global spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). It aims to protect the health and safety of children from infectious disease risks by providing age-specific nutritional supplements to Dream Start case-managed children aged from 0 years old (including pregnant women) to 12 years old.
In June, about 180 legally low-income children from financially disadvantaged families were selected through a case meeting process. Nutritional supplements for infants and adolescents, as well as probiotics for young children, were purchased in two-month supplies using sponsorship funds from the Jongno-gu Public Daycare Center Association (President Kim Yu-ae).
From July 6 to 15, visits were made to the homes of the recipients to deliver the items, closely monitor the children's health status, and provide guidance on infectious disease prevention measures.
The Jongno-gu Public Daycare Center Association, which donated the sponsorship funds for purchasing the supplements, has been consistently engaged in sharing activities for local children every year.
Last winter, they supported a total of 40 padded jumpers to help vulnerable children endure the severe cold wave.
This year, the directors and teachers of the public daycare centers gathered warm hearts to raise sponsorship funds out of concern for local children who are experiencing more difficult days than usual due to COVID-19.
District Mayor Kim Young-jong expressed, “In these difficult times for everyone, I deeply thank the Public Daycare Center Association for willingly donating sponsorship funds to support the healthy growth and development of vulnerable children,” and added, “We will continue to promote substantial, customized welfare services for children based on outreach case management.”
