청 "President Moon to Postpone Green New Deal Visit on 16th and Deliver Opening Speech at National Assembly" (Comprehensive)

청 "President Moon's opening speech being revised for the 9th time... Korean New Deal content included in the opening speech"

[Asia Economy Reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Son Seon-hee] President Moon Jae-in has decided to postpone his scheduled visit to the 'Green New Deal' site on the 16th and instead deliver the opening speech at the National Assembly's inaugural session.

Kang Min-seok, the Blue House spokesperson, announced at a Chuncheon briefing on the 15th, "President Moon Jae-in has decided to give the opening speech at the National Assembly's inaugural session held at 2 p.m. on the 16th."

Spokesperson Kang explained, "President Moon originally planned to visit the Green New Deal site as his first schedule following the Korean New Deal National Report Conference on the 16th. However, he judged that the cooperation of the National Assembly is paramount for the success of the Korean New Deal, a national project, and thus decided to postpone the Green New Deal site visit and attend the National Assembly's inaugural session to celebrate it."

President Moon is scheduled to attend the inaugural session held 48 days after the start of the 21st National Assembly's term. Spokesperson Kang said, "There are media reports calling this the longest delayed inaugural session since the 1987 constitutional system, so the president's steps toward the National Assembly cannot be light," adding, "President Moon is currently rewriting his opening speech for the ninth time."

A senior Blue House official stated, "(President Moon) is currently revising it, so the exact length is unknown. I recall it was about 30 minutes previously, and it is expected to include content related to the Korean New Deal."
