Expansion of Contactless Shopping Amid COVID-19 Pandemic
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] Shinsegae Department Store's beauty select shop, Chicor, is now available online as well. The spread of non-face-to-face (untact) shopping culture due to COVID-19 has influenced this development.
Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 15th that it has opened Chicor's official online mall, Chicor.com, three and a half years after opening its offline Chicor stores.
At Chicor.com, customers can shop over 450 brands in one stop, ranging from luxury cosmetics to popular K-beauty products. Brands such as MAC, NARS, Sisley, Sulwhasoo, as well as Hince, Dear Dahlia, Klairs, and Farmy are available.
For the first time among online select malls, premium hair care brands like K?rastase, Ren? Furterer, Moroccanoil, and Loma are exclusively introduced.
The platform also adds a content commerce feature that feels like reading a magazine. Over 50 experts specialized in beauty, including dermatologists, beauty editors, and makeup artists, verify and select products tailored to skin types and concerns.
Chicor.com includes a beauty community function. Users can try cosmetics and recommend them with a ‘Like’ button similar to social networking services (SNS), enabling easy communication. Transparent product reviews and information can be shared and exchanged. Up to 2,800 points are awarded per review after purchase.
Chicor’s unique My Brief service is also available. It tracks customer behavior patterns and purchase history to recommend products matching personal preferences, while displaying various promotions and discount information at a glance. Searching via hashtags (#) is also possible.
To celebrate the opening of Chicor.com, Shinsegae Department Store is running promotions. All customers who purchase over 10,000 KRW this month will receive free shipping and double points. Upon membership registration, 3,000 points and two 5% discount coupons are given. Customers purchasing over 30,000 KRW or 70,000 KRW can receive gifts such as a mini cross bag or an LED beauty mirror. A 10% billing discount is also available for purchases over 50,000 KRW using Citi or Shinhan cards.
Downloading the Chicor.com app offers a voucher worth 10,000 KRW usable at offline stores. When verifying Chicor.com membership at stores, customers will also receive a full-size Chicor hand cream.
Lee Eunyoung, head of Chicor at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “Chicor, which has led trends in the cosmetics industry, is finally expanding its domain by launching the beauty platform Chicor.com,” adding, “We will provide a differentiated shopping experience not only offline but also online.”
