[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Han-hyuk] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 15th that it will promote the 'Naju-type Hope Job Project' to stabilize the lives of low-income groups struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to support citizens who have suffered economic damage such as unemployment and business closures.
The Hope Job Project will provide a total of 243 public jobs by investing a total project cost of 1.253 billion KRW (90% national funds, 10% city funds) from next month until November.
It is also composed of 49 detailed projects in 6 categories including life quarantine, youth support, environmental cleanup, and public work support.
The city plans to apply the minimum hourly wage of 8,590 KRW and flexibly operate working hours (15 to 40 hours per week) depending on the project type and participants' age group.
Applicants must be citizens aged 18 or older with the ability to work.
However, priority will be given to vulnerable employment groups and those who have experienced unemployment or business closures due to COVID-19, as well as citizens in need of livelihood support due to the regional economic downturn.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the administrative welfare center of the applicant's resident registration jurisdiction with an ID card, application form, and related documents by the 24th.
The city plans to complete the selection of candidates by the end of this month and officially implement the project from next month.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, "I hope this project will be a message of hope that breathes new life into the local economy and supports citizens struggling with livelihood difficulties amid the anxiety and worries caused by COVID-19."
