Suncheon Police Refer Five Doctors to Prosecution for Ordering Nurses to Perform Medical Procedures

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] The Suncheon Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that they conducted a seizure and search after receiving a petition claiming that nurses were providing medical treatment instead of doctors at a general hospital in Suncheon City.

According to the Suncheon Police Station, five doctors from a certain general hospital were sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges of medical acts performed by nurses instead of doctors (violation of the Medical Service Act, etc.).

The indicted hospital doctors are suspected of ordering nurses or emergency medical technicians to perform medical procedures that should be done by doctors, such as arterial blood gas tests.

Suncheon City is reviewing administrative measures against the hospital in question following the police's referral of doctors for indictment.
