[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Huons announced on the 15th that the core probiotic of its women's menopause health functional food 'Eluvi Menolacto Probiotics,' Lactobacillus acidophilus YT1 (hereinafter YT1), has obtained a patent in Japan.
The patent is held by the Korea Food Research Institute, which conducted joint research with Huons, and Huons exercises an exclusive license to use it.
YT1 helps the expression of women's 'estrogen receptor β,' activating female hormones and aiding in the alleviation of various menopausal symptoms caused by decreased estrogen levels in the body. It is the first and only probiotic in Korea recognized by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for its 'functionality in improving women's menopausal symptoms.'
Huons has also applied for patents for YT1 in the United States and Europe.
Huons stated, "Given the rapid aging population and Japan's status as an advanced country in the health functional food sector, it is significant that YT1's functionality in improving women's menopausal symptoms has been recognized with exclusive rights and raw material value."
