[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Former Liberty Korea Party leader Hong Joon-pyo criticized the 'Korean New Deal' announced on the 14th, saying it "only aims to squander the national treasury, forgetting even its own term in office."
On the 15th, Hong said on Facebook regarding the Korean New Deal, "Our people living in a country they have never experienced before are the only ones to be pitied under someone who only aims to squander the national treasury, forgetting even their own term in office."
Earlier, the government announced that it would invest 160 trillion won in the Korean New Deal by 2025 to create 1.9 million jobs. Given that President Moon's term has only 1 year and 10 months left, the announcement of a policy continuing until 2025 is interpreted as "squandering the national treasury."
Additionally, Hong made remarks seemingly targeting former professor Jin, saying "It barks incessantly. It bites anyone without distinguishing friend from foe," referring to 'X characteristics.' Former professor Jin had criticized Hong when he urged a thorough investigation into the sexual harassment allegations against the late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, saying "There were people who played the role of 'Chae Hong-sa'." Jin responded by saying, "You must have watched 'Sunday Seoul' too much during your school days."
Furthermore, Hong continued his harsh criticism, keeping in mind the sexual harassment allegations against the late Mayor Park, saying, "Characteristics of leftist activist groups. They normalize sexual sharing. Whatever they do is justice."
