Minister Choi Ki-young made these remarks at the 'Public-Private Joint Meeting for the Success of the Digital New Deal' held in the afternoon at Post Tower in Jung-gu, Seoul. He said, "We will make every effort to ensure the success of the Digital New Deal." In particular, Minister Choi emphasized, "The supplementary budget projects must be executed quickly, and government investment should serve as a catalyst to promote private companies' investments and lead to the creation of sustainable large-scale jobs. We must also strive to discover and foster future new industries to transform our economy into a leading economy."
The joint meeting was organized to strengthen policy communication and cooperation with key implementing agencies to ensure the successful promotion of Digital New Deal projects, which are a crucial part of the 'Korean New Deal Comprehensive Plan' announced that day. The meeting shared the preparation status and future plans of projects by the responsible agencies under the third supplementary budget, which passed the National Assembly on the 3rd, and proceeded with free discussions on policy recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of Digital New Deal projects and suggestions from associations and organizations connected with companies.
Participants agreed that rapid project implementation is paramount to achieving the goals of the supplementary budget projects, and that continuous budget securing, active participation from local governments and related companies, and close cooperation with relevant ministries are necessary for the success of the Digital New Deal. The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to visit companies and institutions in related fields starting with this joint meeting to listen to on-site opinions and continuously discuss measures to revitalize the industry.
