[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has announced its intention to establish protection measures for the victim related to the sexual harassment allegations against the late Park Won-soon, former Mayor of Seoul, and to inspect Seoul City's sexual harassment prevention measures.
On the 14th, the Ministry stated in a press release, "We empathize with the mental shock and difficulties the accuser is experiencing and will make every effort to help her return to a safe daily life," adding, "We will prepare necessary measures according to the principles of victim protection."
The Ministry also emphasized, "Currently, the accuser is suffering from 'secondary damage' such as pressure from identity exposure on the internet, excessive detailed descriptions of the victimization, defamation, and speculation," and stressed, "These situations must be stopped immediately, and our society must work together to prevent them."
The Ministry further stated, "In accordance with relevant laws, we plan to inspect Seoul City's sexual harassment prevention measures," and added, "We will request the establishment and implementation of recurrence prevention measures and ask for their submission to the Ministry."
Additionally, the Ministry announced that if requested by Seoul City, it will provide consulting support for organizational culture improvement through the 'Comprehensive Support Center for the Eradication of Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence.'
