Geochang County Governor Holds Communication Meeting with Mid-sized Mart Representatives


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Geochang County in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it held a meeting with representatives of 13 medium-sized marts in the area, along with the chairman of the Geochang Wholesale and Retail Council and the chairman of the Market Prosperity Association, totaling about 20 participants.


This meeting was organized to encourage the representatives of the 13 medium-sized marts who have been voluntarily closing on the 16th of every month since May 2012 for the development of Geochang Traditional Market and medium-sized marts, and to discuss ways to create a distribution environment where traditional markets and medium-sized marts can coexist and to promote regional economic development.


The meeting proceeded in the order of explaining the purpose of the voluntary closure, introducing the representatives, and discussing difficulties and suggestions.


County Governor Goo In-mo said, “I am grateful for the active participation in voluntary closures for the mutual development of markets and small business owners during the difficult times caused by COVID-19.”


He added, “The county will do its best to overcome COVID-19 and revitalize the local economy by timely implementing various support policies such as the Geochang-type emergency disaster relief fund, emergency disaster relief fund for small business owners, and additional issuance of Geochang Love Gift Certificates.”
