[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Sejong University announced on the 14th that it ranked first in Korea for three consecutive years in the Leiden Ranking for Social Sciences and Humanities, which determines global university rankings based on the quality of research papers. The university rose 50 places from last year to 49th in the world rankings. It is the only Korean university to achieve this. Sejong University had a citation rate of 16.6% for papers in the top 10%, the only domestic university to exceed 10%. The ranking targets universities that have published more than 1,000 international papers in the past four years. Sejong University was recognized for the outstanding research performance of its College of Hotel and Tourism Management. Lee Hee-chan, Dean of the College of Hotel and Tourism Management at Sejong University, said, "The Department of Hotel, Tourism, and Food Service Management was established in 1968 as the first department of its kind in Korean universities. It ranks first in Korea and ninth in the world in the field of hotel management. We have produced about 400 professors in hotel management, the largest number in Korea."
