[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Soongsil University Peace and Unification Institute announced on the 14th that it will co-host an international academic conference with Song Young-gil, Chairman of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, on the theme of "Current Status and Tasks of Northeast Asia for the Peaceful Settlement of the Korean Peninsula" at 1 PM on the 16th in Meeting Room 3 of the National Assembly Members' Office Building. The event will be held with a limited number of invited guests and will be live-streamed on-site for pre-registered participants. Kim Seong-bae, Director of the Soongsil Peace and Unification Institute, stated, "In a situation where the rules of the game have changed due to COVID-19, we hope to organize the positions of each country on peace on the Korean Peninsula and find new solutions." Song Young-gil, Chairman of the National Assembly Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, said, "I hope this international academic conference will be a valuable opportunity for South and North Korea to wisely overcome difficult issues and seek ways to build mutual trust."
