Guri-si Creates 1,500 Hope Jobs to Overcome COVID-19


[Asia Economy (Guri) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Guri City in Gyeonggi Province is creating 1,500 hope jobs to support the livelihoods of vulnerable groups affected by COVID-19.


Guri City announced on the 14th that it will carry out the 'Hope Job Project' from the 10th of next month to November 30th to stabilize the livelihoods of job-vulnerable groups facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19 and to recover the local economy, and will recruit participants from the 15th to the 30th of this month.


Guri City will invest 6.6 billion KRW, including national funds, to provide 1,500 public jobs in eight public sectors through this project.


The main projects include ▲support for daily quarantine ▲support for recovery of small businesses in alley markets ▲improvement of public rest areas ▲improvement of cultural and artistic environments ▲emergency support for public tasks ▲disaster prevention ▲youth support ▲local government specialization projects.


Mayor Ahn Seung-nam of Guri said, "I hope this Hope Job Project will serve as a catalyst to revive the depressed local economy and employment environment," and emphasized, "We will continue to do our best to prepare active support measures such as continuous job creation to realize 'Guri, a Special City for Citizen Happiness' where anyone can live a safe and stable life in any crisis situation."
