[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] The SW-Centered University Project Group at Wonkwang University in Jeonbuk announced on the 14th that it conducted an SW education program for prospective teachers over five days from the 6th to the 10th.

According to Wonkwang University, the prospective teacher SW education was planned as part of the SW Value Expansion Center project, aiming to discover future SW talents through linked SW education for elementary, middle, and high schools.

A total of 13 participants, including those completing teacher training, students from the College of Education, and students from Jeonju National University of Education, took part in this program. It was held in the Computer Software Engineering Department's computer lab for 4 hours and 30 minutes each day over five days. Creative coding education using Scratch and Physical was provided to enhance the SW capabilities of prospective teachers in response to the mandatory SW curriculum.

In particular, after the education ended, participants were guided to take related qualification exams, and 12 are preparing for the CDT (Coding Creative Development Ability) certification exam.

Additionally, among the prospective teachers who completed the SW education, Wonkwang University students will have the opportunity to participate as mentors in upcoming programs of the SW-Centered University Project Group, and scholarships will be awarded to students who participate as mentors.

Jung Young-ji, head of the SW-Centered University Project Group, said, “The activation of software education, which is currently emphasized in schools, depends on the capabilities of teachers. I believe this was a good opportunity to enhance the software teaching abilities of prospective teachers who will enter the educational field in the future.”
