[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hye-min] On the 14th, the United Future Party criticized Sim Sang-jung, leader of the Justice Party, for apologizing for her party members' refusal to pay respects to the late Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, saying, "Justice has disappeared, and they are acting as the ruling party's second squad."
Hwang Gyu-hwan, deputy spokesperson of the United Future Party, said in a statement on the same day, "What exactly are you apologizing for? And to whom are you apologizing?"
Deputy spokesperson Hwang said, "What needs to be apologized for now is the 'secondary harm' inflicted on the victim by the ruling party," adding, "The only party to apologize to is the victim who suffered alone for four years."
He raised his voice, saying, "As the leader of a public party and as a woman like the victim, Sim should be raising her voice to recognize the seriousness of the incident and to uncover the truth, but instead, she is watching the ruling party's moves under the pretext of 'party members leaving the party.' She has reduced the correct thoughts and courage of first-term lawmakers to a 'mistake.'"
Deputy spokesperson Hwang continued, "Sim claimed that 'the Justice Party is becoming stronger and more mature,' but no one thinks this behavior is a process of maturing," and added, "The Justice Party ignored the public's anger during the Cho Kuk incident last year and rammed through the election law and the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (HOCI) law for selfish interests. We are once again witnessing the bitter appearance of the Justice Party, which is left only with political calculations, in the 21st National Assembly."
