[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Eun-mo] The KOSPI closed slightly lower due to net selling by institutions and foreigners. The KOSDAQ index also ended marginally down.
On the 14th, the KOSPI closed at 2,183.61, down 2.45 points (0.11%) from the previous day. The KOSPI started lower and at one point in the afternoon dropped to the 2,160 level showing weakness, but reduced its losses in the latter part of the session and closed near the 2,180 level.
Looking at trading trends by participant, institutions and foreign investors net sold 381.1 billion KRW and 39.4 billion KRW respectively. In contrast, individual investors net bought 419.1 billion KRW.
By sector, telecommunications (1.37%), paper and wood (0.59%), and transportation equipment (0.54%) rose, while medical precision (-2.00%), services (-1.82%), and textiles and apparel (-1.17%) declined.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, LG Household & Health Care (3.08%), Hyundai Mobis (2.69%), Samsung C&T (0.93%), SK Telecom (0.93%), and Samsung Electronics (0.75%) rose, whereas NAVER (-3.37%), Kakao (-2.56%), LG Chem (-2.38%), and NCSoft (-1.97%) fell.
On the day, the KOSPI market saw 356 stocks rise, including 3 stocks hitting the upper price limit, while 477 stocks declined with no stocks hitting the lower price limit. 70 stocks remained unchanged.
The KOSDAQ index also closed marginally down. The KOSDAQ started lower but turned upward in the afternoon, recovering to the 780 level, before turning down again in the latter part of the session to close at 778.39, down 2.80 points (0.36%) from the previous day.
Trading trends by participant showed that, similar to the KOSPI market, institutions and foreign investors net sold 55.2 billion KRW and 50.1 billion KRW respectively, while individual investors net bought 123.9 billion KRW.
By sector, information devices (3.80%), publishing and media replication (1.14%), and entertainment and culture (1.10%) rose, while non-metallic minerals (-2.25%), other manufacturing (-2.16%), and telecommunications services (-1.84%) declined.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Rino Industrial (7.25%), Seegene (1.61%), HL Biopharma (0.83%), and SK Materials (0.74%) rose. Conversely, Genexine (-4.07%), EcoPro BM (-2.91%), Kolmar BNH (-2.90%), and Celltrion Pharm (-1.32%) fell.
On the day, the KOSDAQ market saw 505 stocks rise, including 5 stocks hitting the upper price limit, while 724 stocks declined with no stocks hitting the lower price limit. 110 stocks remained unchanged.
