[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 14th that it received the Standing Co-Representative Award of the National Network for Social Economy Activation at the ‘2020 2nd Local Government Social Economy Policy Evaluation’ award ceremony held at Social Campus On 2nd Campus in Yangpyeong-dong, Seoul.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the National Network for Social Economy Activation, the ‘2nd Local Government Social Economy Policy Evaluation’ was held for the second time following last year to enhance understanding of the current status and development direction of social economy policies.
Social economy policy foundations, support levels, policy outcomes, and governance were evaluated targeting 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide and 226 basic local governments.
As a result, Gyeongbuk Province was selected for the metropolitan level, and Changwon City and Seongdong-gu in Seoul were finally selected for the basic local government level.
Since enacting ordinances such as the ‘Changwon City Social Economy Promotion and Support’ in November 2018, the city established a social economy division in January last year and set up a Social Economy Support Center in March, laying the foundation for the social economy.
Park Sang-seok, Director of Job Creation Division of Changwon City, said, “This award recognizes the policies Changwon City has implemented to realize people-centered social values,” and added, “We will do our best to grow as a key pillar responsible for sustainable development of the local community through social economy activation.”
