[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that it will extend the full waiver period of agricultural machinery rental fees, originally scheduled to end at the end of this month, by three months.
The county has been waiving the full rental fees for agricultural machinery since March 1st to alleviate the difficulties faced by farmers due to the spread of COVID-19 and to address labor shortages and delays in timely farming during the farming season.
Any farmer in the Jangseong area can receive a waiver of one day's rental fee for agricultural machinery for one week during the support period. If the same type of agricultural machinery is rented for two or more days, only the first day's rental fee is waived, and if a different type of agricultural machinery is rented, the first day's rental fee is waived again.
According to the tally over the past four months since the rental fee waiver was implemented, the cumulative number of uses was 4,259, showing an increase of about 30% compared to the previous year.
Yoo Doo-seok, the mayor of Jangseong-gun, said, "Due to the impact of the spread of COVID-19, difficulties for farmers such as reduced consumption and price drops of agricultural products have intensified, so we decided to extend the agricultural machinery rental fee waiver period," adding, "We will continue to discover and promote support measures that provide practical help to farms for a new Jangseong and a hopeful future."
