[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Park Hong-geun, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea who served as the funeral execution committee chairman for Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, announced that he will carry on the late mayor's will.

On the morning of the 14th, Park posted on his Facebook under the title "After the Funeral of the Late Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon," saying, "I wish the past five days had been a long nightmare. I don't know how many times I wished it was just a dream," and added, "But reality pierces my heart painfully like a dagger."

He said, "A small and low mound near my hometown parents' graves embraces the late's body," and continued, "The extraordinary life the late walked and the great will he boldly unfolded are not all buried there. It is the responsibility of those left behind to remember and inherit exactly as the late left and taught."

He further stated, "We must evaluate and reflect on not only his public achievements but also his human limitations and faults as they are," and said, "The late was a pioneer of change in Korean society and a reliable compass for juniors like me. I will embrace the late's merits as merits and his faults as faults."

Park said, "No one can know exactly why the late let go of himself. I only speculate that he faced problems he could not possibly handle and thus took his own life." He added, "There is no way to confirm the facts from the late himself, but as someone who communicated closely with him during his lifetime, I want to offer words of comfort to the complainant who was hurt. I believe those who mourn the late will empathize and cooperate with this."
