Hwasun County Governor Guchung-gon Issues Special Directive to Strengthen COVID-19 Public Service Discipline

Hwasun County Governor Guchung-gon Issues Special Directive to Strengthen COVID-19 Public Service Discipline

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 14th that it has communicated the reinforced compliance guidelines for public officials to all employees, following the governor's special directive to establish COVID-19 public service discipline.

On the 13th, Governor Gu Chung-gon declared the COVID-19 spread situation in the Gwangju area as an emergency and ordered the establishment of COVID-19 public service discipline.

The compliance guidelines for public officials include ▲ refraining from visiting other regions ▲ prohibition of entry to sports activities and venues with high infection risk and potential social disturbances such as billiard halls, PC rooms, karaoke rooms, and pubs ▲ prohibition of attendance at small religious gatherings, door-to-door sales, and other enclosed and crowded places ▲ practicing social distancing by refraining from outings and private gatherings.

The county plans to conduct an ‘intensive inspection to establish public service discipline’ related to the special directive, and if any violations are detected, they will be strictly disciplined applying standards stricter than usual.

Additionally, all employees have been urged to refrain from company dinners (prohibited), avoid private gatherings and outings after work, and wear masks at all times except during meal times.

Governor Gu said, “In this emergency situation where COVID-19 is rapidly spreading in the Gwangju area, which shares the same living zone as our county, there have been cases of lax public service discipline among some public officials in other local governments. All employees must firmly uphold the fundamental attitude of public officials prioritizing the safety and protection of the lives of residents, and behave appropriately as public officials in accordance with the current emergency situation.”
