'No Abuse Against Security Guards and Janitors'... Gyeonggi-do Management Regulations Revised

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has amended the standard regulations for apartment complex management to prohibit abusive behavior toward security guards and cleaning staff.

The province announced on the 14th that it held the 13th review committee meeting for the standard apartment complex management regulations on the 6th and approved the amendment containing this content.

The review committee added a clause to Article 14 of the amended regulations, which prohibits obstruction of work, stating, "Management entities, resident representative meetings, and residents shall not use their superior status or relationships within the apartment complex to verbally abuse, assault, cause physical or mental distress, or worsen the working environment for workers such as security guards, cleaning staff, and management office employees."

Established in 2000, the Gyeonggi Province standard apartment complex management regulations serve as a set of guidelines created by the province to protect apartment residents and maintain order in residential life regarding the management and use of apartment complexes.

Apartment complexes in the province with 300 or more households, those with 150 or more households equipped with elevators, those using centralized heating systems, and mixed-use residential-commercial buildings with 150 or more households totaling 4,405 households can utilize the amended regulations to revise their management rules.

Shin Wook-ho, head of the Apartment Complex Division of the province, stated, "We expect the amended standard apartment complex management regulations to serve as a reasonable standard that encourages the prohibition of abusive behavior toward security guards and others, which has recently become a social issue."
