Bucheon City to Hold Public Hearing on Complex Development of Video Culture Industry Complex on the 30th

Establishment of Cultural Industry Convergence Centers and Video Content Enterprise Complexes by 2025

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will hold a public hearing on the 'Bucheon Video Culture Industry Complex Development Project' on the 30th to gather citizens' opinions.

The Bucheon Video Culture Industry Complex Development Project is a mega development project investing 4.19 trillion KRW in an area of 382,743㎡ at Sangdong 529-2, aiming to create a cultural industry convergence center, video content enterprise complex, a 70-story landmark tower (hotel, convention, etc.), and residential facilities (about 5,300 households) by 2025.

The city has prepared a development plan draft through over 40 rounds of practical negotiations since May last year with the GS Construction consortium, selected as the preferred negotiation partner, to sign the business agreement.

The plan focuses on attracting excellent domestic and international video culture content companies such as Sony Pictures and EBS, introducing virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) immersive content, and establishing the Video Culture Industry Complex as a hub for new video and cultural content industries.

In this regard, a public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on the 30th at Bucheon Gymnasium.

The city plans to proceed with administrative procedures such as establishing a public property management plan and changing urban management plans after listening to citizens' opinions through explanations of the development plan and expert discussions by field.

A Bucheon city official stated, "Through this project combining video, content, and cultural arts resources, we expect Bucheon City to play a leading role in driving future industries as a cultural city."
