Amorepacific Group Introduces Eco-Friendly Metal Zero Pump

[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Amorepacific Group has recently been launching eco-friendly products one after another, such as introducing metal zero pumps in cosmetic containers and using 100% recycled plastic containers.

This is part of the 'Less Plastic' initiative to reduce the use of plastic packaging by about 700 tons by 2022 and to improve recyclability.

Amorepacific Group Introduces Eco-Friendly Metal Zero Pump

The product applying the metal zero pump is Happy Bath's Grapefruit Essence Body Wash, a total body care brand of Amorepacific. It does not use the metal spring that was used to assist pumping the contents, so after use, it can be separated and disposed of without any separate disassembly process. In addition, the container is made of 100% recycled plastic, and the shrink film packaging on the outside has perforations to facilitate recycling.

Vitalbeauty Metagreen is also a Less Plastic initiative product. The capsule-type packaging made of PVC material was changed to recyclable bottle and pouch types, and upgraded versions, Metagreen Slim and Metagreen Gold, were released. Vitalbeauty plans to expand the application of eco-friendly packaging materials to all products in the future and introduce health functional foods suitable for green consumers.

Innisfree introduced a Paper Bottle Edition applying paper packaging to the Green Tea Seed Serum container. The plastic content of the container was reduced by about 52%, and 10% recycled plastic was used for the cap and shoulder, participating in reducing the use of new plastic packaging materials. After use, the paper bottle and the lightened plastic container can be separated and disposed of respectively.

Primera is also focusing on developing Less Plastic products, such as applying glass containers and recycled plastic caps to the Super Black Seed Cold Drop Serum™ Limited Set. In addition, it uses paper made from sugarcane by-products and prints product information on the single box with soybean oil ink instead of an inner manual, minimizing paper usage.

Meanwhile, Amorepacific Group published the first sustainability report in the domestic beauty industry in 2009 and has published the report annually for the past 12 years. To realize the 2020 sustainability management vision 'For a More Beautiful World,' redefined in 2017, the group continues new attempts such as launching environmentally and socially friendly new products, implementing sustainable stores, and researching eco-friendly packaging materials.

As of 2019, it achieved a reduction of 159 tons of plastic, and Amorepacific Group plans to continue various activities related to Less Plastic to practice for the global environment.
