[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 14th that it has successfully completed the technical verification for the commercial launch of the ‘5G Enterprise Network Slice’ service.
KT developed the 5G Enterprise Network Slice anticipating increased demand for 5G convergence businesses following the government’s announcement of the ‘Digital New Deal’ policy. Enterprise customers using the 5G Enterprise Network Slice can separate multiple ‘in-house networks’ dedicated to infrastructure or employees, receiving network services optimized for their business and field characteristics.
For example, the 5G network accessed by employees’ smartphones and the 5G network for wireless CCTV installed for factory monitoring can be separated to design a stable network. Additionally, the 5G network dedicated to employees’ smartphones can provide service coverage accessible nationwide. IoT devices managing product manufacturing infrastructure can use a segmented network coverage that allows access only within the factory for corporate security.
Kim Bong-gi, head of KT Platform Research Institute, said, “With the development of the 5G Enterprise Network Slice, a foundation has been established to provide customized network services according to the diverse business characteristics of various private and public sectors such as smart factories, smart cities, logistics and distribution, 5G national networks, disaster safety networks, and public safety.” He added, “KT will continue to develop customized networks and technologies that can offer various 5G convergence services to enterprise customers.”
