IEL Science "Polynic Clinically Proven to Improve Hair Thickness"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Smart optical solution company IL Science announced on the 14th that clinical trial results of the microcurrent LED scalp care device ‘FOLLINIC’ confirmed its effectiveness in improving hair thickness by more than 9.9% and reducing sebum by more than 37%.

‘FOLLINIC’ is a scalp care device developed for easy and convenient home use to promote scalp and hair health. It was created using IL Science’s patented proprietary technology, which has established a foothold in the optical solutions business. The device was developed to revitalize the scalp through the dual effects of microcurrent and LED.

The clinical trial was conducted over 4 weeks by the Korea Dermatological Science Institute, a professional research organization, targeting women aged from their 20s to 50s. Participants applied ‘FOLLINIC Premium Scalp Tonic’ to their scalp daily for 28 days, followed by wearing the helmet-type scalp care device ‘FOLLINIC’ for 20 minutes.

Clinical results showed that FOLLINIC achieved ▲hair thickness improvement of 9.96% ▲scalp sebum improvement of 37.52% ▲scalp keratin improvement of 17.72% ▲hair tensile strength improvement of 22.90% ▲hair gloss improvement of 20.97%, demonstrating significant effects on key indicators related to hair loss.

In particular, FOLLINIC stood out in improving hair thickness, a representative early symptom of hair loss. Hair thickness is directly related to the condition of the scalp and hair, and if thinning can be clearly felt by touch, it can be considered the beginning of hair loss. Therefore, the company explains that continuous scalp and hair care is important for ongoing management.

The average hair thickness of clinical participants before the trial was 87.49μm, which increased to 90.97μm after 2 weeks and 95.92μm after 4 weeks, recording an improvement rate of 9.96%. Additionally, scalp sebum, which is directly linked to scalp health, decreased by 37.52% over 4 weeks.

Furthermore, scalp keratin improved by 17.72%, and tensile strength, which reduces hair breakage, increased significantly, suggesting that the device will be highly effective for those suffering from hair loss due to acquired factors such as harmful environments and stress.

FOLLINIC is a professional scalp care device that massages hair follicles with microcurrent and 4-wavelength LEDs to restore the biorhythm of tired scalps and maintain healthy hair condition. Notably, FOLLINIC incorporates IL Science’s core material, a silicone lens. This delivers over 99% of the effective LED wavelength to the scalp, alleviating heat sensation, a cause of hair loss, and maximizes usability with an ultra-lightweight design of approximately 400g.

Song Seonggeun, CEO of IL Science, said, “We obtained positive results in various indicators such as microcirculation and moisture content in the first clinical trial, and we are pleased that the efficacy of FOLLINIC was objectively recognized in major scalp and hair-related indicators in the second clinical trial as well. With the advancement of science and technology, scalp care at home has become easy and convenient even during the COVID-19 era, so FOLLINIC will be a great help to those who want to prevent hair loss.”
