Various Programs Highlighting the Characteristics of Each Village School, Including Street Dance, DJing, and Graffiti Art, to Be Held Until This November
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will operate the ‘2020 Village School’ as part of the 2020 Jungnang Innovation Education District Village Activity Support Project until November.
To discover various village schools within the region, the district selected a total of 36 village schools through the ‘Jungnang Innovation Education District Village School Contest’ held last April.
This village school supports resident-led educational activities utilizing various local resources and provides education for children and adolescents to expand the village as a place of rest, play, and learning.
The ‘2020 Village School’ is composed of educational groups or organizations with three or more local residents and has been sequentially starting since July 3 for children and adolescents until November. Programs include ▲ the ‘BE’ Dance Project’ with BE’chu-da through dance (street dance), BE’chu-da through music (DJing), BE’chu-da through painting (graffiti art) ▲ the ‘Family Healing Class’ with Dad’s Stories about Mom’s Country (reading), World Stories Told through Cooking (cooking), and Girl’s Land (dance) ▲ the ‘Baekkot Photo Studio’ smartphone photography workshop, Baekkot Photo Studio, Meeting the Village, and various other programs reflecting the characteristics of each village school.
In particular, this village school is conducted as after-school activities centered on culture, arts, and sports, complementing the curriculum-focused ‘after-school education’ managed by schools.
Additionally, the district is also conducting education for village school operators to revitalize the ‘2020 Village School’.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope this village school will be an opportunity for children and the village to grow together,” and added, “We ask for active participation from residents so that Jungnang can become an educational city where children and adolescents are happy.”
Designated as a Seoul-type Innovation Education District in 2019, the district is promoting 20 innovative education projects in four areas: operation of public-private-academic governance, operation of school curricula with the village, support for village activities, and support for children and adolescent autonomous activities, aiming to become ‘Jungnang, an educational city where children and adolescents are happy, created together with the village.’
