119 New Jeonnam Firefighters Begin Their First Official Duties

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] 119 newly appointed Jeonnam firefighters have officially begun their role as protectors of the people.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) on the 13th, 119 new firefighters started their first duty from this day.

The appointees completed a 10-week training course for new firefighters at the Jeonnam Fire Training Center and Gwangju Fire Academy, covering basic administrative work, fire response, rescue, and emergency medical practice.

Due to the 'Social Distancing Level 2' order for COVID-19 in the Jeonnam area, the appointment ceremony was omitted, and they were assigned to 16 fire stations respectively.

The number of personnel assigned by field includes 88 firefighters, 9 rescue workers, 13 emergency medical technicians, and 9 in architecture and chemical fields, totaling 119.

They will be deployed to 119 Safety Centers and 119 Rescue Teams to carry out on-site activities such as fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services.

Firefighter Trainee Lee Hyungseop stated, “I will go to the field and, based on the training acquired at the fire academy, I will not forget my initial resolve and will do my best as a firefighter for the safety of the people.”

Jeonnam Headquarters Chief Ma Jaeyoon encouraged, “These newly appointed firefighters, the first since the transition of firefighting public officials to national status on April 1, should fulfill their role as safety guardians protecting the lives of the people based on the firefighting spirit.”
